“exciting young company” – The Stage

Led by Artistic Director, Steffan Donnelly, we promote neglected literary voices, theatre in different languages, and produce inventive new writing. Our goal is to surprise, thrill, and provoke our audiences with modern classics and original work.

Invertigo was Associate Company of Pontio Arts and Innovation Centre in North Wales (2016-2019), where we launched our new production My Body Welsh (Nominated for 2 Wales Theatre Awards 2018), co-produced the inaugural Wales-China Festival 2018, and premiered the Welsh version of Tim Crouch’s An Oak Tree, Autumn 2018 and Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru 2019.

We won the Deutsche Bank Award for Creative Enterprises when we launched in 2012, and since then have gone on to work with over 300 artists, producing 9 full-scale productions, commissioning new plays, as well as running many rehearsed readings and development workshops.

We work collaboratively, co-producing with organisations and artists, including Theatr Clwyd on our adaptation of Caradoc Evans’ My People. We also tour internationally and My Body Welsh has performed at Kerala’s International Theatre Festival (2018), Kerala Literature Festival, National Gallery of Mumbai (2019), and most recently, in Daito Bunka’s Kaikan Hall in Tokyo (2020).
