Two days of ambitious, lesser-known theatre at the renowned HighTide Festival Theatre in Halesworth, Suffolk.
A company of 54 young and dynamic artists, ranging from playwrights and actors to composers and dancers, collaborate to create an eclectic programme of 5 exciting shows to tantalise your senses.
Adapted by Steffan Donnelly from a translation by David Short
The première of Gabriela Preissová’s Czech masterpiece, later forming the basis for JB Foerster’s famous opera, Eva, in its first ever English translation.
Written in 1890, this epic drama charts impoverished seamstress Eva's downfall. Eva's expectations are put to the test as the limitations of love become clear. The claustrophobic class hierarchies, prejudices and gossip of a small village are dissected in this moving tale of sacrifice, loss and hope.
Directed by Cheek By Jowl associate Owen Horsley, this is a script-in-hand performance by Invertigo Take-Over's ensemble, featuring live music and dance.Louise Torres-Ryan

Resident composer Benjamin Graves has created two works alongside choreographers Imogen Bland and Jocelyn Todd.
Through a satirical exploration of British folksong, Graves and Bland have created Perfect Straits, an exposé of contemporary British culture from Jeremy Kyle to drinking tea.
Graves’ and Todd’s new work focuses on the movements made by the musicians as they perform, transforming them into facets of the imagination.

A work-in-progress presentation of a play by Ben Norton Davies
"It’s a sign. I’m a marked man…"
After a peaceful protest spills over into bloody riot, Gil Vickers finds himself cast as poster child for the revolution. Have the masses found their leader, and are the mysterious stigmatic marks on his hands a sign of a higher power? Or are they simply the injuries of an opportunistic thug?
With the help of his comrades, Pete and Radge, Gil must escape the city; but he is a marked man in more ways than one – with mysterious forces on his tail, set on retribution, can Gil keep himself and the face of the revolution alive?
A Marked Man gives us a rebel without a cause. A play about actions and responsibilities, it challenges us to place ourselves within the bigger picture, and asks how far we are prepared to fight for our beliefs in a world where everyone has their price.
